Life out of the water

12 April 2015 | Shelter Bay Marina
We came across to Shelter Bay Marina for Panormitis to be hauled out. Once out of the water you can see all the things hidden below the water line. The paint used in Greece was a disaster and they had to sand the hulls, then prime it before painting with a couple of coats of good stuff. Some new anodes fitted and then the news that the rudders were a bit sloppy. That means new brushes and the Lagoon agent in Panama doesn't keep parts, as is the case with all Lagoon agencies. They have to come from France (not likely). I had asked for a quote for the window treatments which make it so you can see out but no one sees in. 4 of these would be €800. (lucky you Andy and Jane , that you don't have them). Ours are getting a bit tatty from fenders rubbing on them ( prior to us getting her) but I think I'll do as I have seen others do, and that is to take them off and don't replace them. There are curtains so privacy is not a problem.
Anyway life out of the water has been dirty and hot. Fortunately the marina has a pool and a lovely airconditioned lounge, so that is where we are spending our time when not working on things we can do. To remove the rudders, they had to dig holes to drop them into.. so what's another few hours of labour? We have organised the same agent we had last time but the cost of the transit is considerably higher. Last time it was $609. this time it is $800, plus of course all the extras needed to make the transit. No date yet but will let you all know so you can watch it live on Pancam.
