Musket Cove Regatta Week

27 September 2015 | Mololo LaiLai

Our week in Musket Cove on Mololo Lai Lai was packed with fun filled activities. We crewed for Andreas on Matilda in the pirate race , then Gary and Chris ( Crew on Matilda) entered the Hobi cat races...we won't mention their performance. Then one day was at the sandbank. We dinghied over and joined the tug of war, well Gary did the beer drinking competition which the Aussie team won. Not really drinking a lot of beer. The girls had to run(?) with an open stubbie between their legs to the waiting boys, then without using hands, empty the stubbie into a cup which the boy then drank....team of 8. Then Gary and Andreas played golf with a couple of girls who couldn't count but filled in the cards...all a lot of fun. Every night was some themed event. The opening ceremony had each country up singing their national anthem. We Aussies were outnumbered by the Kiwis. Free rum punch, wine and beer plus buffet dinner and dancing. The presentation night saw pigs on the spit the centre of the buffet table. Again the drinks before dinner plus the dinner and more dancing was a fitting end to a great week.
We had taken a mooring ball for our stay. Loved this place back in 2009 and even tho' they have had a cyclone go thru' the place they have resurrected the place beautifully. Mind you the tropical weather sets things off too.
