Ocean Reef Yacht Club

Has been awhile since last post. Since then we left George Town and sailed up to Staniels Cay. Relaxed there for awhile and swam with some fishes in the Thunderball grotto. Then up to the Exuma national marine park we anchored off Bell Island and swam with more fishes at the "aquarium".

Still in George Town. Waiting for a weather window to cross over to Cat Island. Looks like we will try it tomorrow. Have been here a week which is more than planned. Hard to leave here with all the place has to offer. Lots of supplies and services and great beaches to walk. Its very secure here [...]

Back in Bahamas

Has been awhile since posting. We were back in Nova Scotia for a month but headed back south on the 28th. Arrived at Emerald Bay on the 29th and got the boat ready to go. We left Emerald Bay marina on Saturday and headed down to Georgetown for some supplies. On the way down, my purchase on Amazon [...]

19 March 2016

It's Saturday, March 19. Arrived in George Town yesterday afternoon. Lots of boats here as is normal this time of year. Several hundred actually, so a big change from many of our solitary anchorages that we've been use to. Will hang out around here for awhile.

In the Exumas

Has been awhile since writing here. We came across from Nassau to Highbirne Cay on the last day of the strong E'lys. Made reasonable time beating into the wind all day with a full main and a bit of the jib. Managed to anchor St Highborne Cay at 18:30 just after sunset.

So, since last update we have been using all daylight hours to knock off the miles southwards. From Georgetown NC we travelled Tuesday to Charlseton Nc. Anchored across from the Charleston City Marina. We shouldn't complain about the weather considering the weather in the Martimes now but didn't expect to have frost down here. Seems to be slowly getting warmer but long underwear, sweatshirts and parkas are still the dress of the day.
On Wednesday we travelled to Beaufort SC through the ICW which around here is mostly rivers and canals through marshlands. And occasional stretches of ridiculously huge houses. So anchored off the Beaufort Marina for the night and this morning topped up with fuel and water at the marina before continuing.
Had another good day today with light winds and sun. Passed int Georgia in the afternoon and anchored in Moon Rive south of Savana for the night. Apparently this is actually the river the song came from.
Expecting a rainy windy day tomorrow but will try to knock off another 5o miles.
