Good News-Bad News

Hello to all our yachtie friends, it is so long again since I have posted a blog, but the moment has at last arrived that I can talk to you all.

Home!!

The last lap, so we left Garry’s Anchorage at 5.50am to catch the incoming tide to cross the bar. No wind at all. We started down the “mad mile” towards the bar crossing – not for the faint hearted today, it was like a washing machine, however the largest wave we saw was about 3 metres. Finally [...]

Yankee Jack Creek

Off yet again at 5.45 am, I was almost sleepwalking as the skipper did his usual, go, go, now.........

29 October 2011 | Bundaberg

Nearly Home

We had a lovely quiet day in the creek, we even played cards and Scrabble, beaten again!!!

27 October 2011 | Pancake Creek

Dawn Start

Up at 4.30am [we must be mad]! To get to Pancake Creek before tomorrow, when a S Easter is forecast, means a very long haul today. We will pass Cape Capricorn at about 10am before sailing down the outside of Curtis Island and Gladstone etc.

Another Ripper!!

Another day, this time up at 5am and underway at 5.40am. The water is like oil, not a breath of wind. The clouds are quite heavy at present, but it is very early yet.

Happy New Year

04 January 2010 | Nai Harn
Nanette
The time has run away and I have not written a word.
We went to Patong Bay for New Year's Eve, as well as many other yachts , large and small. The Bunnies joined us aboard for a roast lamb dinner and 4 hours of fireworks.Amazing that they go for so long, and it was apparently the same in all the bays.
Next day the first we moved early to avoid more noise and wash from the rampaging jet skis etc. We went around the corner to Kamala Beach. Much quieter there and we caught up with Rubicon Star { Tasmania} Cankata { Canada} and Fat Annie {UK}. We all ate ashore on the beach with our feet in the sand. On Saturday we walked to the market for fresh produce and as we were all very hot on our return we just had to stop for a beer on the beach!
Sunday, we upped anchor and came back to Nai Harn as the Indian Ocean was rolling in from the west, not so comfy at anchor. Here in Nai Harn it is calm and sheltered.
Monday 4th, a quiet day, and even a game of Scrabble.
Today, a lovely day here, so we will go ashore later. A number of our group are now enroute for either Chagos, Maldives or Sri Lanka, some returning home and some still going around. We listen on HF each am for their position etc, but today some reported 40kts wind, with one hove to and one running before back east. It is strange to get west winds at this time of NE monsoon. That is a very big ocean with at least 1500 miles to landfall.
