Passion for Cruising

Stuart and I took Sazli {our Sail Malaysia organiser } on TP for the sail to the south of the Island. We then set out to trek uphill to a cool waterfall some way behind the village. It was a steep walk up under the huge old trees, and thank goodness it was overcast. Stuart braved the cool water, but I chickened out.
I had a long talk with Sazli, and told him of our disappointment with regards to lack of fish when we snorkel up here. This whole area of Islands are supposed to be National Park, with NO FISHING allowed for two miles around each Island. All we see are fishing boats , fish traps, gill nets etc. Some of these nets are even caught up on the corals themselves. Sadly there is absolutely no sign of patrol boats or enforcement, therefore, it is fished out, and not even medium sized fish to be seen!!!
Back to the walk, it was most enjoyable until we got back to the yachts, it poured, really poured, we were all soaked. We motored around to a new anchorage at Teluk Juara and the rain has stopped. The water up here is crystal clear, so lots of swims tomorrow, yes!
