Passion for Cruising

At 10am we went with others in a mini bus to town, about 40klms away. It is a beautiful city, both old and new. The "White Rajahs", Brooke in particular left a wonderful Heritage. The streets are clean, and every road is tree lined, and the centre reservations are all trimmed and attractively planted. First we went to the "Cat " museum, Kuching, meaning cat. One can see marvellous cat statues everywhere. I could rave on about that museum, but it would take pages. We read the history of the British Rajahs and what they did, and from what we have seen, the Poms did a lot of good here. The locals all seem to speak very good English, and the Chinese have prospered, some of their houses resemble palaces, but in good taste
We met up with others for a n excellent Indian lunch, after which we walked along the lovely riverbank to the Sarawak Museum built in 1891 by the Brits to a copy of a Normandy building. All worth doing, Back to Santubong, 1 hour's drive.
