The last lap, so we left Garry’s Anchorage at 5.50am to catch the incoming tide to cross the bar. No wind at all. Dawn Start
Up at 4.30am [we must be mad]! To get to Pancake Creek before tomorrow, when a S Easter is forecast, means a very long haul today. We will pass Cape Capricorn at about 10am before sailing down the outside of Curtis Island and Gladstone etc.

Another Ripper!!
Another day, this time up at 5am and underway at 5.40am. The water is like oil, not a breath of wind. The clouds are quite heavy at present, but it is very early yet.
Celebes Sea
Today was another long day, but a good breeze at ninety degrees was nice.
This is a busy commercial port, but a very nice Yacht Club right next door to a container terminal"very noisy.
Now this is 1st September, and we have found the YC very welcoming and it has many excellent amenities, including a large swimming pool and tennis court etc. We were made very welcome by Mr Tan the Commodore. All the yacht clubs appear to be run by the local Chinese, so we can always buy a beer, {very important for dry yachties}.
The reception and dinner was excellent, but a little sad. Only 9 yachts have come this far out of 39 who left Langkawi 4 months ago. Photo shows the oldest and youngest participants, Nanette and Simone, 26, from Germany. A few yachts have already set out back to Australia and NZ.
