Good News-Bad News

Hello to all our yachtie friends, it is so long again since I have posted a blog, but the moment has at last arrived that I can talk to you all.

02 November 2011 | Mooloolaba Marina

Home!!

The last lap, so we left Garry’s Anchorage at 5.50am to catch the incoming tide to cross the bar. No wind at all. We started down the “mad mile” towards the bar crossing – not for the faint hearted today, it was like a washing machine, however the largest wave we saw was about 3 metres. Finally [...]

Yankee Jack Creek

Off yet again at 5.45 am, I was almost sleepwalking as the skipper did his usual, go, go, now.........

29 October 2011 | Bundaberg

Nearly Home

We had a lovely quiet day in the creek, we even played cards and Scrabble, beaten again!!!

27 October 2011 | Pancake Creek

Dawn Start

Up at 4.30am [we must be mad]! To get to Pancake Creek before tomorrow, when a S Easter is forecast, means a very long haul today. We will pass Cape Capricorn at about 10am before sailing down the outside of Curtis Island and Gladstone etc.

26 October 2011 | Great Keppel Island

Another Ripper!!

Another day, this time up at 5am and underway at 5.40am. The water is like oil, not a breath of wind. The clouds are quite heavy at present, but it is very early yet.

Dinghy Race!

26 June 2011 | Cid Harbour
Windy, overcast & showers
Today is the last Seawind Rally Day, we are, however staying here until Monday.
At 10.30 all remaining crews are going ashore for a blindfold dinghy race????
Oh, dear, I was cox of our boat and, having wondered why the other crews were wearing wet suits........I soon found out when all other paddlers used their paddles to soak the others completely!! It was cold with the wind chill factor over our wet clothes, and then to make it worse, we were pushed over the turning buoy, and then of course came in last.
Quickly we were back aboard for a hot shower. Enough said.
It is now 25/6 and we have had another day here, weather bad. We went for a big walk with Imagine’s crew this morning, followed after lunch by a killer game of Scrabble. The match was between Toni {Imagine} and Stuart. It was a close fought game and the tension and concentration was palpable!!! The match was won by Stuart by 50 points. Toni wants a re-match!!!
8.30 am 26/6 yet another day of 30kts wind and rain squalls, so, one more day at Cid. Tomorrow we will go over to Airlie and go into the Marina. There are piles of washing after two weeks, plus with four of us we need more supplies.
David and Sue went for a hard uphill walk to the top of Whitsunday Island, and came back totally exhausted. Just in time before another deluge.
It is now27/6 and we are in the Marina after a sail over under reefed jib only. We will get a new headboard made for the mainsail. The weather is appalling, so we have booked for a week. Stuart really needs to rest. David and Sue fly out on Wednesday for a few days back in Mooloolaba. As you can see we now have internet again!!!!
