Good News-Bad News

Hello to all our yachtie friends, it is so long again since I have posted a blog, but the moment has at last arrived that I can talk to you all.

Home!!

The last lap, so we left Garry’s Anchorage at 5.50am to catch the incoming tide to cross the bar. No wind at all. We started down the “mad mile” towards the bar crossing – not for the faint hearted today, it was like a washing machine, however the largest wave we saw was about 3 metres. Finally [...]

Yankee Jack Creek

Off yet again at 5.45 am, I was almost sleepwalking as the skipper did his usual, go, go, now.........

29 October 2011 | Bundaberg

Nearly Home

We had a lovely quiet day in the creek, we even played cards and Scrabble, beaten again!!!

27 October 2011 | Pancake Creek

Dawn Start

Up at 4.30am [we must be mad]! To get to Pancake Creek before tomorrow, when a S Easter is forecast, means a very long haul today. We will pass Cape Capricorn at about 10am before sailing down the outside of Curtis Island and Gladstone etc.

Another Ripper!!

Another day, this time up at 5am and underway at 5.40am. The water is like oil, not a breath of wind. The clouds are quite heavy at present, but it is very early yet.

More of all the above!

Sunny & Windy
In the last two days we have snorkelled and walked in many different spots. It has been beautiful, Toni and Chris, where are you??? We also think of all the friends back in Mooloolaba, and our families scattered around the world.
David and Sue have taken to this lifestyle like ducks to water. David has a number of pets now, they are taking food from his fingers while he tickles them under the chin. They are Bat fish, see photo.
Tonight 2/9 we all went ashore to the Marlin Bar at the resort, a convivial evening complete with Pizza etc, about 20 people from most of the yachts in here. Great fun!
Now it is 11am on 3/9 , we have been for a long walk, but it is blowing 30kts again, so no snorkel today. Just a lovely cup of brewed coffee and raison toast.
The sun is shining and we have plenty of power from both solar and wind, therefore the watermaker is working away in the background.
It is now 4/9 and another wild night with rain squalls to complete it .We organised the yachties to come to the beach at 4pm, and we played Boule or Petanque as some call it. Eighteen people turned up, and it was fun, especially as the Ladies beat the Men !! Much hilarity ensued.
After dinner, the usual game of cards until bedtime. Sue and David won again!
6/9 yesterday was not very exciting at all, just chores etc, then sundowners on the beach with the group.
Now, today we have sunshine and still the wind blows, but it is 8.30am and it is already 26 degrees, so not all bad.
We waved goodbye to the other 1160 at 7am when they left to go north to Darwin, then Indonesia etc. "Better than $hares" is it's interesting name. They are sailing alone, so we are somewhat concerned for them, and wish them a safe passage.
We have ordered food from Cairns today; it will be delivered on the Barge next Tuesday. { a different way to shop }.
I think that we are all looking forward to snorkelling again as soon as this wind drops, the forecast says that by Thursday it will be down for a few days. Let us hope so!
