Good News-Bad News

Hello to all our yachtie friends, it is so long again since I have posted a blog, but the moment has at last arrived that I can talk to you all.

Home!!

The last lap, so we left Garry’s Anchorage at 5.50am to catch the incoming tide to cross the bar. No wind at all. We started down the “mad mile” towards the bar crossing – not for the faint hearted today, it was like a washing machine, however the largest wave we saw was about 3 metres. Finally [...]

Yankee Jack Creek

Off yet again at 5.45 am, I was almost sleepwalking as the skipper did his usual, go, go, now.........

Nearly Home

We had a lovely quiet day in the creek, we even played cards and Scrabble, beaten again!!!

27 October 2011 | Pancake Creek

Dawn Start

Up at 4.30am [we must be mad]! To get to Pancake Creek before tomorrow, when a S Easter is forecast, means a very long haul today. We will pass Cape Capricorn at about 10am before sailing down the outside of Curtis Island and Gladstone etc.

Another Ripper!!

Another day, this time up at 5am and underway at 5.40am. The water is like oil, not a breath of wind. The clouds are quite heavy at present, but it is very early yet.

Fine & Windy
Well, the sun is shining, but the wind is still howling, when will we get a break? This is so unlike the usual weather here in September. The next question is, "How will we get back""? No one is moving but I think that there will be a mass exodus south when the wind abates.
Yesterday was a social day. I went over to a cat called Southern Wing, which was self designed and built by Phil Wise. They have both a dog and cat on board, so I enjoyed my visit. Next we all went across to Allikat a new 45ft Lightwave, with everything. It is very luxurious, and its home-base is Batemans Bay NSW. We had a nice coffee on board and lots of shared experiences.
After lunch, which was back on TP we then had an afternoon visit from Debbie and Warren off 1160 number 98 called Phase Two. They are from Brisbane, and Warren was interested in all Stuart's extras on TP, which of course is 1160 number 2.
After that it was 5pm and all ashore for sundowners. It is a hard life this cruising!!!!
Thank you Marion and Digby for comment on the blog, we look forward to catching up with all our friends in the village. I expect that we have missed some good times there.
Mid morning now on 18/9. The sun is shining but, yes, it is still blowing our socks off! A few larger monohulls are still arriving, all reefed right down. We have met Peter from RMYC Pittwater, he has passed Foolish Behaviour who is on his way south, they never caught up with us, which was so disappointing.
I managed to beat Stuart at Scrabble, but just once this week! I have been improving my scores, which pleases me. We are being thrashed at Bolivia though, David and Sue kill us.
Stuart and I snorkelled yesterday, it was pretty rough and we had to swim hard against the wind on the way back to shore. I saw another big fish, this time a gorgeous blue green parrot fish
David and Sue are doing long walks most days, but they find swimming a bit cold without wetsuits.
7am 20/9 I have just done all the washing again, we must have it dry before 10am as John and Pam from Allikat are coming for coffee.
The wind has at last abated today, it is only 15 to 20kts, so a big snorkel after lunch. More boats have left, so only 16 left at present, no doubt more will soon arrive.
