Perfect Sail – for 3 hours!
23 March 2009 | Koh Muk
On Sunday we all went into Ao Nang at Krabi and had a wonderful experience riding elephants through the jungle! Words cannot describe the beauty of these animals, the gentle calmness of them when the mahout got down and Stuart sat on its head whilst we were filmed from below. These were well cared for and being 10 of them, the youngest is 19 years and only one male of 52 years. The rest all female.
Today, we were underway at 7am in a beautiful 8/9 kts breeze on the beam!!! We are under full sails and doing 7 kts in flat seas, 50 miles South to Koh Muk.
There are now storms and rain most nights, so anchoring in protected places is becoming much more important. Having said that, last night was delightful, and a meal on shore overlooking the bay was much enjoyed. Ao Nang is a nice town in lovely scenery. Many tourists still around.
