Good News-Bad News

Hello to all our yachtie friends, it is so long again since I have posted a blog, but the moment has at last arrived that I can talk to you all.

Home!!

The last lap, so we left Garry’s Anchorage at 5.50am to catch the incoming tide to cross the bar. No wind at all. We started down the “mad mile” towards the bar crossing – not for the faint hearted today, it was like a washing machine, however the largest wave we saw was about 3 metres. Finally [...]

Yankee Jack Creek

Off yet again at 5.45 am, I was almost sleepwalking as the skipper did his usual, go, go, now.........

Nearly Home

We had a lovely quiet day in the creek, we even played cards and Scrabble, beaten again!!!

27 October 2011 | Pancake Creek

Dawn Start

Up at 4.30am [we must be mad]! To get to Pancake Creek before tomorrow, when a S Easter is forecast, means a very long haul today. We will pass Cape Capricorn at about 10am before sailing down the outside of Curtis Island and Gladstone etc.

Another Ripper!!

Another day, this time up at 5am and underway at 5.40am. The water is like oil, not a breath of wind. The clouds are quite heavy at present, but it is very early yet.

The Emerald Cave

Nanette
Tuesday was thunderstorms all day; we moved to an eastern anchorage on Koh Muk facing a very pretty looking resort. Did not go ashore; the rain was too heavy. Scrabble games kept the brain working, at least I hope so.

This morning is beautiful again, so up anchor at 8.00 am just around to the Emerald Cave. We picked up a tour boat mooring and swam towards a black hole in the rock face. On approach I did not think I could make it into this pitch black hole. A tour boat arrived and I finally found the courage to follow the torches inside. We swam 80 metres in pitch black before we saw light; then, oh fantastic - right in the middle was a gorgeous calm lagoon with trees and birds and a lovely beach. The water is truly emerald green, crystal clear. After swimming back to the boat, we dinghied round to another isolated cove and swam and lazed, watching the eagles soar on the thermals.

11.30 am saw us underway to Koh Rok Nok, 15 miles further out. At 3.15 pm picked up mooring just near the reef. This is yet another stunning spot, turquoise water this time. We are anchored between teh two islands.
