Good News-Bad News

Hello to all our yachtie friends, it is so long again since I have posted a blog, but the moment has at last arrived that I can talk to you all.

Home!!

The last lap, so we left Garry’s Anchorage at 5.50am to catch the incoming tide to cross the bar. No wind at all. We started down the “mad mile” towards the bar crossing – not for the faint hearted today, it was like a washing machine, however the largest wave we saw was about 3 metres. Finally [...]

Yankee Jack Creek

Off yet again at 5.45 am, I was almost sleepwalking as the skipper did his usual, go, go, now.........

29 October 2011 | Bundaberg

Nearly Home

We had a lovely quiet day in the creek, we even played cards and Scrabble, beaten again!!!

27 October 2011 | Pancake Creek

Dawn Start

Up at 4.30am [we must be mad]! To get to Pancake Creek before tomorrow, when a S Easter is forecast, means a very long haul today. We will pass Cape Capricorn at about 10am before sailing down the outside of Curtis Island and Gladstone etc.

Another Ripper!!

Another day, this time up at 5am and underway at 5.40am. The water is like oil, not a breath of wind. The clouds are quite heavy at present, but it is very early yet.

Still in the Marina

The last few days have passed uneventfully, except that Stuart has a terrible cold, and ,he thinks that he caught it on the bus from the Highlands. He was sitting behind me near a man that was constantly sneezing. Naturally I am hoping that I stay free as I am still recovering from those dental operations, still being underweight.
We have been busy however, with cleaning and maintenance, installing more fans, and re mounting the air con, which has now quietened a vibration that was too annoying. It gives us huge relief to go to a cool cabin at bedtime. Now the guest quarters are equally cool. { a note for visitors }. A further note to all our friends and relatives, book your time for the next DRY, it starts in November until end March. Anne and Chris, Stuart's sister and her husband are coming in November, { dates to be finally fixed } .
A parcel is due from Penang, which means that on it's arrival we shall move out and around some of the other nice places around here. We did a huge duty free shop yesterday , so the boat is HEAVY again!! Remember grog is very dear in Thailand
Internet access is very slow as it appears the main Malaysian www server was knocked out by a "Trojan" mid morning on 1st April - two weeks and yet to be fixed. After two sweltering days it has finally started raining - cats and dogs.
