Good News-Bad News

Hello to all our yachtie friends, it is so long again since I have posted a blog, but the moment has at last arrived that I can talk to you all.

Home!!

The last lap, so we left Garry’s Anchorage at 5.50am to catch the incoming tide to cross the bar. No wind at all. We started down the “mad mile” towards the bar crossing – not for the faint hearted today, it was like a washing machine, however the largest wave we saw was about 3 metres. Finally [...]

Yankee Jack Creek

Off yet again at 5.45 am, I was almost sleepwalking as the skipper did his usual, go, go, now.........

29 October 2011 | Bundaberg

Nearly Home

We had a lovely quiet day in the creek, we even played cards and Scrabble, beaten again!!!

27 October 2011 | Pancake Creek

Dawn Start

Up at 4.30am [we must be mad]! To get to Pancake Creek before tomorrow, when a S Easter is forecast, means a very long haul today. We will pass Cape Capricorn at about 10am before sailing down the outside of Curtis Island and Gladstone etc.

26 October 2011 | Great Keppel Island

Another Ripper!!

Another day, this time up at 5am and underway at 5.40am. The water is like oil, not a breath of wind. The clouds are quite heavy at present, but it is very early yet.

The Best Yet

Nanette
Arrived here last Saturday 16th May. This is the best marina in Langkawi, and the cheapest. Therefore there are many boats that we know, some are on the hard either doing work or travelling, as are some on the marina pontoons. Owners either having gone to their home counties or are off on overland trips - India, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and China being favourites. All very close and cheap on Air Asia. There are still however many here that we know, and it is great that we all get together in the gorgeous resort pool every afternoon at 5PM. We stay in for about an hour to feel truly relaxed and cool. This morning we walked all around the island, about 40 minutes. All very pleasant lots of new birds, including hornbills, monkeys of course and monitor lizards. The resort has few guests at the moment but there are some from india and the Saudis with their wives in full black burkas. Our group is all Caucasian so the burka clad ladies all avoid the pool. There is a very cheap eatery for the yachties The Hard Dock Cafe about $3.60 for a main course. The beer is 1/3 the price at the resort restaurant but we can bring our own wine and beer (which we buy from the shop at 1/3 of that price - pity the tourists).
