Rose Island

We had a beautiful sail across the north side of New Providence Island and then tucked in on the south side of Rose Island for the night. We had one small issue at the start of the sail- the main halyard overwrapped itself in the self-tailer on the winch- worse than an overrap on the drum. It took about 40 minutes and 4 attempts to free it. We were just about to give up when it finally broke free.
Rose Island is a beautiful anchorage with coral reefs to the south, a natural wading pool to the east and steep shoreline to the north. The entrance is from the west along a long path between coral heads and shallow. Nicely protected and away from the hustle and bustle of Nassau.
Planning for another first light-ish departure to go across the yellow banks and into the Exuma’s. After that, we are looking forward to slowing down our pace. We have been moving every day to get further away from the cold (such as it is…sorry folks in Vermont) and west winds since there are not great anchorages for protection from Westerlies.
