Moving on again
22 April 2018
Up at early o'clock again, in order to get round to the refuelling dock for 07:30, I was very disappointed with the whole area, because it is swimming with fuel ⛽️ that has been spilled and nothing is being done to clean it up, it is smelly with a few wrecks scattered along the banks on the approach. We then had to go all the way back to the marina for final clearance out of Cayo Largo, Cuba 🇨🇺. We finally left about 09:15.
We still have not got our auto pilot repaired, despite three other people taking a look, each having their own and different opinions. ( electronic, mechanical and sensor) So from leaving the marina to arriving in Grand Cayman (154 miles) we are going to be taking 2 hour watches round the clock, at the wheel. It took us 37 hours for the crossing. On the way we had 2 little swifts take a lift with us they were a very friendly couple they stayed over night and slept below deck inside the main cabin, until the morning, one of them even landed on my head twice. When we were about 30 miles away from Grand Cayman we were also visited by a pod of 20 or so porpoise 🐬 I went as quickly as I could up to the front of the boat ⛵️with my camera 🎥, they were no more than 1.5 metre long, but boy could they swim 🏊♂️ there were up to 4 at a time swimming on the bow wave of the boat ⛵️ then 2 new ones would move into position all the time breaching, twisting and turning, they seemed to be having so much fun, sadly they stayed with us for only 15 minutes, they went as quickly as they came. We are now moored up just offshore in `hog sty bay at Georgetown, the capital. Today was another great day.
