It's here
30 December 2018
At 14:00 today our hire car đźš™ has finally turned up, we were promptly taken to the police station where for the sum of 60 Eastern Caribbean Dollars, I was given a 3 month visitors driving license. We went to the supermarket and stocked up on our grocery's.
Next we went to the old fort in St George's, here we walked around what is an old run down barracks with a few cannons pointing out over the ramparts, it is probably one of the worst forts I have been to, but I can say "I have been there".
This morning we drove up to the Concord waterfalls, the drive took us around the volcanic interior of the island 🌴 once we parked up we had a look at the lowest of the three falls, it was ok but nothing too spectacular, so off we set to the next one , they said it would take us about 20 minutes and that we would need a guide but we decided to go it alone. Well the trek took almost 1 hour, we crossed and recrossed the river 6 times before we arrived at the falls. There was a smallish pool that we could swim 🏊‍♂️ in, the water was bracing to start with, I estimated the height to be around 20 metres.
The walk back took a little longer because my wet leg kept slipping down and fell off once as I took a big step crossing the river. Here is real rain forest with large leaved plants and all sorts of creatures.
We continued to drive around the twisty coastal road, where we found a little cafe and had a bite to eat. As the sun was setting we got back to the marina, in total the drive was 90 kilometres.
