This is my adventure & I’m living it

Once we got clear of Guatemala 🇬🇹, it was a case of getting up to Mexico 🇲🇽, a distance of about 500 kilometres, we had various wind conditions but not too bad. Now I am the least qualified of the three onboard of Scorch. So I'm getting a bit concerned when the captain is asking me advise when we get into more difficult conditions, the other crew looks at me so dam dumbly (he holds a day skipper licence). Through the day the captain is tying the boat ⛵️in knots by loosing control this is very dangerous, then apologising. When I try to give some advise I was shot down in flames 🔥, so I just confirmed who was the skipper and waited for bad things to happen. Before the sun went down it was me who suggested that we should reduce the size of the sails by 'reefing in' in the light and not in the dark, this we eventually did but only just in time. My watch (shift) started at 21:00 so I went belowdecks for a couple of hours rest, I woke up at 20.20, hearing a discussion about where we should go and maybe drop the anchor ⚓️, well even I know that our 70 metre chain won't go down to the seabed 2000 metres below. I came up early but in the dark, at this point Lukas noticed that an old 3 metre boat hook had been caught up around two sheet lines it was wound so tightly and whipping around so much it could have very easily killed or badly hurt someone. But it needed to be released, so I went forward with a hacksaw and started to cut the boat hook in three pieces, Lukas eventually came to assist, but he was worse than useless (more people to get injured) it took about 15 minutes to get sorted.
The wind started to blow to 25+ knots and gusting to 30+, with all the flogging of the sails Lukas was not a happy bunny, so it was decided that we should go to the large bay in Honduras 🇭🇳. We couldn't pull the head sail in because of the problems earlier, after the engine was started I noticed that we had a red warning light showing, I opened the inspection door and saw a smoke filled compartment but no fire 🔥 so I then opened the main door (remove the steps) I noticed that fuel was squirting over the top of the engine from a fractured pipe. I said it should be shut down to prevent any fire 🔥 or further damage.
To be continued in Honduras........
