Farewell Morbihan

11 August 2018
Well, that’s us out of the Gulf du Morbihan now. We left yesterday to catch the tide into Port du Crouesty on the Eastern edge of the Morbihan and rafted up next to a nice Southern Irish family who keep there yacht up the river Villaine. We spent 7 days and 6 nights at anchor; we took a bus trip to the Carnac Alignments - large megalithis, stone circles, tombs and stone rows which make Stonehenge look pretty small. We went to The city of Vannes which was interesting but mainly we spent the time on the stunning beaches, swimming, sunbathing and watching the many (French) speedboat and yacht owners having nightmares anchoring or picking up mooring buoys 😂 On one day I actually had to swim out and reposition a RIB anchor which was dragging as the old French owner couldn’t swim!!!!!
The Morbihan is an awesome cruising area with lots of shallow ground, beautiful coves and stunning beaches. There are oyster beds everywhere and some vicious currents running which keep you on your toes but with careful planning and sound pilotage drills it is a wonderful place to visit. We had to leave after 7 days to get the laundry done😂 We will stay in Port du Crouesty for the weekend then move on to La Turballe. Happy days🤗

Dawn and I spent 7 days and 6 nights at anchor in the Morbihan and travelled up to Vannes and stayed mostly in the central and Eastern areas, I know the photos don’t do the place justice but hopefully we captured some of the good bits.

What a great find; we were told about this place while we were in Jersey so we thought we’d have a look..... awesome views, perfect beaches and lovely people.

We have had a fantastic time in Jersey (as always) with family and friends. We took the opportunity to revisit some of our favourite places and Dawn spent a relaxing Spa day in L’Horizon on her birthday with Catherine.... I know they had a great day. It was good to see our nephews and catch up with there lives and our great niece Jorgie is just adorable. Thanks for the use of the car Ann 🤗👍 We can’t wait to come back for another visit.

We left Gosport in company with our good friends and Mentors - Brad and Sibylle Delaney and the children, Jase and Caitlin. After a 12 hour passage in which we motor sailed due to lack of wind, we arrived safely in Cherbourg and sorted our admin before heading for a well-earned drink and some food. What a fantastic first day of the rest of our lives 🤗
