Trinidad

We returned to Trinidad early September and have been on the hard getting boat work done. The draw of Trinidad is that it is out of the hurricane box. In fact hurricanes rarely come to Trinidad. We have been following the many cyclones and we are not expericencing any of them. On the other hand, where we are is called Chagaramas, and the boat is located in Power Boats Marina. We are one of the few Power boats located here. Most of the vessels are sailboats. Another draw of this area is that labor is cheap and suppies are easily retrieved. That is true, only in part. The labor is cheap but the labor is also on island time. Once you employ someone, you must be an ever presence to make sure that one, they continue working and two, that they are doing what you want them to do. Labor is cheap, at a price. Supplies are readily available, yes, you order them from the US and wait for them to arrive. Order early and wait, and wait.
A good thing about Trinidad as well as the sailing life is the people. Other cruisers are making the best of the situation and there are many socials as well as opportunities to visit the surrounding areas.
We have not decided where to go next. We think that we will be heading to Isla Margarita and then to the ABC islands. We have a couple of weeks left- waiting for parts and getting some cosmetic works done.
