Gaspé

Up very bright and early at 5am, away from the dock at 5:45. Hoping to make the 54 miles to Gaspé today rather than Rivière au Rénard. The sun came up on this, the first day of summer, at 4:15 and sunset is at 20:31. There is no wind but there is a swell running.
I'm comfortably ensconced on the helm seat while the rest of the faithful crew is still in their sleeping bags. I imagine the motor is too loud for actual sleeping, but they are happy.
I totaled the mileage run so far and we will hit 750 by the time we make port in Gaspé. Not bad for the first month. The total for the planned route is about 2400, so we are well on track. We do intend to slow down a bit when we get to PEI and Cape Breton, though. We need to smell the roses and scarf some lobsters.
In arrival at "the best equipped marina on this coast" we finally gave up on getting fuel, besides, the pumpout isn't hooked up. The boaters of this province don't need pumpouts, they flush their shit directly into the water. We succeeded in getting a slip at a rate if $1.25. We'll decide if we want to stay another night or not tomorrow. I don't think there are any pumpouts closer than New Brunswick.
