Cruising again
30 April 2019
Phil Heaton
We are now ready to move on from Albufeira.
We had quite a long break from cruising but thoroughly enjoyed our time, despite the winter - as they say, "there is no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes". We had many friends visiting us in York and we explored hitherto unvisited parts of England and Wales: Shropshire, Salisbury, and Caernarfon and Anglesey (for the OCC AGM). We had an amazing hike with OCC friends up Blencathra via Sharp Edge, in the Lake District - our motto for the climb was "you cannot appreciate courage until you have experienced fear" ...
Trips to Northern Ireland meant great reunions with long-standing friends and good times with family.
We had a wonderful weekend in the Yorkshire Dales with daughters and sons-in-law involving superb food, clay pigeon shooting, 4x4 off road driving, rifle shooting and flying birds of prey. A significant birthday was involved but we do not need to mention any numbers.
We had two weeks on the boat and toured the Algarve in late January/early February. Then Phil was out at the boat for three weeks in March for maintenance and repairs.
We both came out in mid-April and hauled out Minnie B for anti-fouling.
We are about a month behind our original schedule but we still plane to cruise in the Western Mediterranean.
So updates will follow
