Puteri Harbour Marina

03 May 2009 | Puteri Marina
Joanne
We arrived at Puteri Harbour Marina just after 11am on 21st April and one of the staff came out to meet us in a big rubber duckie and lead us into the marina where there were about 5 staff waiting on the pontoon to help us berth. What a flash marina - certainly the flashest we have ever been in and all brand new with only about 10 boats here. We had a pleasant surprise to find that a NZ yacht, Pewter was in here and we had met them in Seaview Marina, Petone when we were in there in December 2006 and they headed to Nelson the same day as we did. That night the marina staff took a van load of us to the night market where we bought a few fruit and vegetables and also had our dinner there. Thursday morning they took several of us to Juscoes (supermarket) which is in a huge mall which only opened 4 months ago and is very up market and about a 30 minute drive from here.

Puteri Harbour is being built to be like the French Riviera by a Dubai Company along with a city called Nusajaya with every conceivable amenity that a city requires. Where they think they are going to get all the people to fill the apartments etc. I would not know, as there are so many unfinished or deserted apartments and resorts etc. throughout Malaysia. It is just unbelievable the wastage here. It involves several hundred acres and there are four lane motorways throughout the area.

On the Wednesday our friends Maggie and Ray came over to take us out for lunch. They left Sebana Cove at 9.30am but did not get to us until 1.30pm. They took the wrong turn off and ended up going across the causeway to Singapore which caused all sorts of trouble as they did not have their passports with them so once they came back Malaysian Immigration held them up for quite sometime as if they were criminals. It should only have been a 1 hour trip so we ended up having lunch in the restaurant here at the marina.
