Magic Rocks on Catalina Island

Does anyone remember those magic rocks kits? You'd add water and then colorful rocks would grow, like rising stalagmites or is it stalactites...

We took our dinghy exploring the cliffs near Isthmus Cove at Two Harbors and found the Blue Caverns. The rock formations looked like magic rocks, rising up from crystal azure blue water. Inside, the cave walls had eroded with vertical folds. We went in as far as we could without getting stuck in the surging waters.
