A Dorado Day!

22 November 2018
November 20, 2018

0800 hours depart Punta Abreojos, (which translates to "Open Your Eyes'), rightfully named for the gauntlet of fishing nets, lobster pots, rocks and shoals one must navigate around to enter and leave this beautiful little fishing and surfing village!

As we are letting out the fishing line off the stern, we hope for a nice catch to add to our depleting food provisions. No sooner than it's out, fish on! Unlike the Bonita we've been catching and letting go, this fish put up a fight from the beginning, taking the line from side to side off the stern. A glimpse of it revealed iridescent colors of blue-green yellow...Dorado!

Thankful for this beautiful fish to provide us Thanksgiving dinner, we honored it with a quick death and watched its colors fade. Moments like this, makes me think about becoming a vegetarian...
