Otters on the starboard side
26 June 2015
A short update. Before we left Loch Aline, we were treated to an early evening ballet from a large male otter who swam around our anchorage, catching and chomping up 3 or 4 fish. Picture is not great but about recognisable?
En route to Oban, we attempted to rectify a problem with our instruments by swinging our compass in the flat calm of the Sound of Mull. A useful learning experience and seemingly a success but we think we found the real root of the problem when tidying the chart table later as we realised that a darling, anchor patterned notepad we'd been given is actually a magnetic one. It has been removed... Also on this passage, we spotted what we think was a basking shark. And then some excellent langoustines for dinner at the Waypoint Bar on Kerrera. The wildlife of the West Coast is generous in many ways!
