Kris - will always think of Greece when I hear a scops owl now! didnt realise they were tiny tho.
Anyway talking of tiny. We are moored in a miniscule harbour in a pretty hillside village called Limni. Only just managed to get in cos of the depth, but we were sitting here at dusk and what I thought was a dolphin jumped out of the water twice only 300 metres away from us. When I told the locals they said it was a tuna... it must have been massive... 200 Kilos... oarsum to see.
Loved the Sporades. Now in the Gulf of Evvoia, hardly seen another boat. Except friendly dutch couple sporting Aethans wrist bands...... Apparently he sold them to them in Cephalonia... that boy is going to be rich...Moored for three days in a pretty greek seaside town bit like Hayling Island. Good n real! Called Orei. Then on to here. No wind and super hot. Doing nothing much till dusk except swimming. visited a restored magnesite processing and shipping plant.. wonderful brickwork...
The Island of Evvoia is the second largest island in Greece after Crete. Its popular with Athenian tourists but nobody else. Its a magnificent mountainous island with lots of agriculture. It is described as a microcosm of Greece.
Its not all shangrila tho. the cats have developed a taste for large cricket hunting in the night. They bring them on board to play with. The crickets leap about and seem massive at 3 in the morning... stll it beats feral cats I suppose.
Am enjoying for the first time in my life reading novels about the places we are visiting. Song for Achilles and the Purple Shroud... Enjoyed.
