We woke up to fog and and we were in a shoal area so the plotter and radar were our eyes to get out of the anchorage. After a about 40 minutes we set a course out of the Delaware anchorage into open water. We still had thick fog for the next 3 plus hours.
The passage was and overnight journey of about 220 miles. We did get not Block Island about 4-5 pm. The anchorage was a bit tricky as there were lots of boats there. The depth was about 50 ft, so with a 5:1 scope we would set out 250 ft of chain. To day our deepest anchorage. The Mantus 85 set is well int a mud bottom and we held well. This place had lots of boats. Between the morale balls, anchorage and the dock slips, the guide books said there were 1200 boats. That seemed hard to believe but it was full.
Block island was really fun. We went to shore several times. We rented bikes and rode to the south end, then to the north end. Both south and north island had light houses. There were also huge wind generators about a mile off shore on the south side. Very cool to see the focus on sustainable power there.
We really started to get into the lobster world here. I had my first lobster roll, but wasn't too impressed by it. Not enough lobster, it was kind of like a lobster salad spread. Lots of tourists came into Block Island via a ferry.
