In Rockland we grabbed a mooring and started to come to terms with being hit by lighting, losing most of the electronics in the boat and not going farther east – well, that was mostly me as Mark and the boys did not care very much about the destination. I had my eyes set on Mount Desert and Acadia National Park but … it will have to be next time.
While in a boating shop, Hamilton Marine, I heard someone calling my name, I turned around to come face to face with Brian and Stephanie of SV Rode Trip (http://blog.rodetrip.net/) who were also in Rockland. We have met at the Offshore Emergency Medical course in Portland early in June. Brian and Stephanie started their first cruising trip at the end of June. I suspect that we will continue crossing paths as both boats are now on the way south for the winter.
Brian and Stephanie came to Por Dos for drinks and we reciprocated. Oh! My! Visiting Rode Trip was a trip down memory lane. She is a beautiful Westsail 32, very similar in design and setup to our first sailboat, Por Nada, a Vancouver 36. We sailed Por Nada from Boston to the Med and back via the Caribbean in 1996-1998, and spent the next 14 years scheming how to do it again ☺
Sarah, Dak, Andrew and Will joined us for the weekend. On Saturday, with no wind to be seen, we motored to Pulpit Harbor in North Haven Island. There we had few adventures but I will leave Andrew to fill you in.
