From beautiful bay to beautiful bay

26 June 2014 | Uvala Podgarbe, Molat, Croatia
Marta Portoles
There are so many islands; so many uninhabited pine-wooded coves with clear deep-blue waters that we have been sailing every day to a different bay, each more or equally beautiful than the previous one. We had mostly southerly winds at 10 to 18 knots, but with flat waters, and despite having to tack our way to each destination, we have been sailing upwind almost as fast as we could motor.

From Rovinj, we sailed around the southern tip of the Istria Peninsula to the bay of Poric. From Poric we jumped to Liski bay in the island of Losinj. From there we tacked all the way up to Jazi in the island of Molat. This was Alec, Roan and my favourite bay, mainly because it was shallower than the others. The wind was changing to North West overnight so me moved to a more protected bay for that wind just on the western side of the same island, Uvala Podgarbe. Here we will stay for a couple of days, enjoying the solitude and tranquility of this small cove. Then, we are sailing for the towns of Zadar or Sukosan in the mainland were we are planning to leave the boat and rent a car to meet friends flying in from Boston.
