Grenada to St. Vincent with Amy and Edwin
29 December 2007
It has been wonderful to have the kids join us on this leg of the trip.
Weather is much kinder the further North we travel, not so hot and humid. The boat has been enjoying what is known as the Xmas winds, normally between 18-24 knots, although more often then not in a NNE direction instead of the Easterlies we would prefer.
We had a lovely few days in True Blue Marina/Hotel resort (two beautiful pools, bar, etc.) at the dock and then went from Grenada to Carriaco. Carriaco is still a fairly rustic, unspoilt island. We took a tour with another RVYC boat and enjoyed the beauty and views that were ever present.
Next was Union Island, which we really feel in love with. A true tropical island with wonderful laid back people and some fabulous reef snorkeling.
Christmas was spent at Tabago Cays. These are uninhabited reef islands, a marine park, which have the most amazing marine life. Apart from all the tropical fish, we saw turtles and a stingray beside our boat. We had a hard time leaving.
Next stop was Bequia. A really fun Island which the kids enjoyed. We are planning on going back there after the kids leave tomorrow.
At the moment we are in Blue Lagoon, which is inside an reef with amazing crashing waves. Feels a bit strange sitting on the boat, tied to a buoy and watching the reef. We plan to go into Kingstown once the kids are up and about ... this afternoon?
Not sure what our plans are from tomorrow. Need to get our dive tanks serviced and so far it looks like we can only do this in Grenada or St. Lucia. We might go back down South as we enjoyed it so much, at the same time there is also so many Islands to visit North. Tough decision .....
Will update blog in next few weeks. Thanks for all your comments Pictures can't be uploaded at the moment. We will try once site has been fixed.
