The Crew of Proximity set anchor at 1515 local time in Funifuti. The pass was shallow, but not so shallow as the book said it would be. Good. We went through the bar with about 28 feet of depth. After depths of over 11,000 feet for ten days, that is a bit alarming. The charts for here are amazingly accurate and correct for GPS. Makes it easy. especially when the markers for the hazards are not in, even though the chart says they are there.

Our position is 08 31.489S, 179 11.363 E. We had a Tsing Tao beer, well, actually two, and now it's nap time. We will check in with the authorities in the morning. I already called Port Control to advise.

It was a good trip. We had a little bit of everything. Some really special sailing moments zooming along close hauled. Some trying moments wondering if we could make it this far east. Our amazing little ship and crew came through, bless her.

It is pretty here. Looks cleaner than Majuro. There certainly is no big corporate fishing fleet based here. There were a few dug out canoes going out fishing for the evening. We spoke with one. His name is Robert, and his canoe was one of the prettiest I have seen. And a very nice man, too.

There are the rain showers, and as we enjoyed our beers, we were treated to a beautiful full rainbow over the town to the east. Quite spectacular.

We did motor for the past three days, as there just has not been any wind. We figure that we have about 12 gallons total left - just about my self-imposed reserve.

We thank our friend Bob, for his help and companionship along the way. It always means alot to have him watching the weather for us. It really does. We both admire both him and his lovely wife, Kristi more than they know.

And Steven and Selina of Westward II deserve a big thanks. Their companionship and moral support during a few dark hours are worth heaps! I respect these two treasures more every day. Ok, and I must mention Elisabeth, my best friend and buddy ever. I fall in love with her more everyday. Sheesh, kind of sounds like an Academy Awards speech doesn't it? Sorry. I always get a little schmaltzi and emotional after a long passage. They are really a special part of life that simply cannot be found elsewhere. Peace Rod and Elisabeth
