Day 9. .....and I manage to shave every day! No kidding. I have shaved everyday so far on this trip. No cruiser beard for me. Used to have a beard long ago, but I guess I just prefer life without it. Ok then, let's talk boat hygene. We have a water maker, so we can bathe. But, the water maker uses electricity, so in order to conserve, we are on the "every other day" bathing routine. personally, I don't like it. No sir. But it does make sense. Today was bath day. A little too chilly in the morning now, so we wait until about noon or so. Then it is nice and warm. Not being hot means we don't sweat like we did about a week ago. But I still shave. Everyday. Brush and floss daily. Floss goes into the "rubbish that we keep" bag" to be dumped when we arrive. Organics and paper go over the side. They will decompose. Floss is not organic, so we keep it. Is this interesting or what? Sorry.

Today, we had just about one of the most beautiful sailing days ever. We were getting headed last night while sailing on the wind vane, so we switched back to the B&G pilot. It is just more precise which was just what we needed. It's the old "close hauled in light air" routine. Until last night, the seas made it miserable, so we have really kept the speed down, but today, the period extended, and we let out our sail. Lovely all day long. The course was not rhumb line, but still east of north, so we are thankful not to have gone backwards. Looking at the chart, we can see that only now have we cleared the longitude of Majuro. Grrr... We laugh and say that we are east of Cary unless he goes fishing.

Our position at 1800 is N23 03, E171 26, so you can see not much easting to brag about. Our course is 003, and our speed is 5.3, as we have slowed down for the night. Also, the smooth ride is over. Why? No clue. Looks like wind waves that just popped up. The swell is still long.

Elisabeth made bread today and it is seriously delicious. In French, I wouldn't be allowed to say that because in French delicious is the top of the heap. But English allows these transgressions! Tip of hat to Thierry!

Allright, enough for now. Thank you for letting me be playful. Day 9 is in the bag.

Be excellent to each other!
