a Picnic according to Wikipedia is
a pleasure excursion at which a meal is eaten outdoors....
but that then means it is our life!! our life is a picnic..we usually have our meals outside and living on Prrrfection is a pleasure excursion fullstop! food for thought isn't it and maybe something we should strive to do in our normal lives - get a life, have a picnic!
The photo of Claude was taken on a beach near Musket Cove in the Mamanuca Group of islands. After motoring a short distance away from the anchorage, he hooked a Trevalley just as he reached shallow water. We decided to have it grilled on coals right there on the beach. We found a beautiful spot and we made seats and a table from driftwood. Coconut trees are in abundance and we complimented the fish with coconut sponge , coconut juice and a salad I brought along. O yes, and of course the Coke!
Coconut sponge for those that do not know - is the inside of a newly germinating coconut.
Newly germinated coconuts contain an edible fluff of marshmallow-like consistency called coconut sprout, produced as the endosperm nourishes the developing embryo. ( mouthful - thanx Wiki!)
It has a very rich buttery coconut spongy taste and very very healthy - well as is the whole coconut tree! I always say that the coconut tree is our gift of Life.
It is a good idea to have a picnic bag/basket on the boat as one always tends to have picnics, whether alone or with other yachties. I am collecting scraps of material / molas / t-shirts along the way and one day I plan to make a memory quilt with all my rags!
Please let us know of memorable picnics you have had...and where.
