The week we spent in Samoa, with our friends Ben & Ellie on the boat called Clear and Melissa on Jovial Tiburon, was truly an unforgettable week.
We went to Robert Louis Stevenson's beautiful house, which is now a museum and also walked to his grave on a hill, overlooking Samoa. After climbing the muddy trial, we arrived at his grave where we had to be tour guides. Us children gathered as much information about this Scottish author so that we could speak about him during our "tour guide session". Ellie had a sleep-over on our boat and I could hear the two girls swatting until late that night. Rochelle is currently reading a book written by Robert L Stevenson, Kidnapped.
After spending a few hours outside his house, we took a taxi to the market where we bought vegetables and fruit and a delicious ice cream from Joe's!
The next day we hired a car and drove half way around the island exploring and checking out all the different beaches and surf spots. In Samoa you have to pay to go to a beach or even a surf spot. It was fun driving around the island with our friends from Clear.
We went on an outing to the sliding rocks. Rochelle & Ellie went down the sliding rock first and then telling us older children how to do it! We had a fantastic time sliding down the rocks and playing our one and only card game- "President".
We had "kid's nights" mostly every night, either on our boat or on another boat, while the "parents" are on the other boat having sundowners or going out for dinner. We had so much fun having the whole boat for ourselves listening to music, watching movies and playing card games that we didn't want the parents to return to the boats and then having to end our nights!
I think that's one of the things that made it so cool being in Samoa was having" kids nights" and exploring the island, watching movies and playing president... we will always remember the good times...and the good memories!
