Aloha All,
Sailed back to Moorea after spending a couple more days in Matavai Bay. Just can't get enough of these places. So laid back as compared to the hustle of Papeete.
Took a nice walk on the black sand beach of Matavai Bay. They were setting up the beach park for Heiva. Heiva is slated to be a huge celebration that coincides with Bastilles Day. They even set up an inflatable water park, just off the beach, for the children. Complete with slides, a large trampoline, and a pyramid shaped climbing wall that is perfect for playing "King of the Mountain!"
We are now at anchor off Tahiamanu Beach just outside the east entrance to Opunohu Bay. An awesome anchorage in about 18 feet of clear water with a sandy bottom. If you hang out with a mask and snorkel for a few minutes you are sure to see something interesting swimming by. Today we saw several black-tip reef sharks. Small kine (3-4 feet). They just cruise along the bottom underneath Puanani paying little, if any, attention to us. Very docile, like the couple of spotted stingray that glided below us as well.
These black-tips are nothing like the aggressive brown-tip reef shark I apparently agitate at Diamond Head most mornings. I try to stay out of the way the brown-tip. Very territorial, that one!
Everyone take care and stay well. All our love.
