Quiet in the harbor
25 August 2009 | Port Townsend, WA

Woke up to cool and quiet for a change...well not the cool but certainly the quiet...no wind! We're waiting now until Sept 2nd so we can pull the boat. Incredibly cheap here to haul out...$95.00 round-trip if we leave the boat on the sling and $150.00 if we have to go on the hard. In any case. no matter what it's hundreds less than we just paid!
We've decided to stay so we can get the cutlass bearing inspected. We were told by our surveyor that it might need replacing in a few hundred hours...well we have some suspicions that it might be sooner so we'll have it looked at. It may be just a shaft alignment problem but we can't really tell in the water.
In the meantime ,we're working on the boat. Sandy started yesterday by scrubbing the decks, then we took down the dink and ran it to town (nice ride out on the water as the water is so much cleaner here)...I finished hooking up the Wi-fi extender and today we're looking at finally finishing up the solar panels.
All the other systems in the boat seem to be working well including the much questioned autopilot...that's a good thing...lets us work on other things we want to get done. We have about 10 days here scheduled...after that we're not sure of our plan.
