Wading thru the winter...
25 January 2010 | Ray here...

Greetings all!...Wish I was sending this to you live...but alas we're still in Poulsbo. Meantime...this is a picture iof one of our major destinations...about 100 miles north of La Paz, Mexico. Notice the lack of other boats...like none for 100's of miles...Yeeehaa!
Time finally seems to be jumping by as we've rounded the new year!....Wow!...it's almost tax time! Weather's turned out unseasonable warm lately...I'm not holding my breath though....I just know there's a dark cloud lurking out there somewhere.
Onward into the winter...Sandy's plunging along into her celestial navigation work...shooting the stars with the sextant and all that...way complicated!!!....lots of math and all that but she reports having a good time and feels like she's getting it. Way over my head! I can't even find North on the compass.
For me...I've really expanded my Spanish...moved off of my first words like...taco and burrito...to more complicated phrases like "Que Banjo?" (I think that's got something to do with bathroom...although, when I've use it, so far, they've only shown me a picture of bathroom...I suspect something gets lost in the translation)! I've written the Mexican embassy suggesting they change some of their words to fit our English language a little better...so far not too many good responses....( I did get one letter talking about some guy named Stupid Gringo). On the other hand , I figure I'll do fine with Mexico money...I've got money down as long as they don't have anything over a dollar! I already have a couple of their paper "pesos"...and like Canada, their money looks like Monopoly money...in fact, I' m thinking of just going down and buying a couple of Monopoly games and swiping the money out..from the sounds of it it's worth about the same.
Everything else is cruising along fine for now....
Hope everyone is making it through the winter...'tll next round...Ray out.
