Spring Projects

23 February 2010 | Ray here...
Actually, it's about 30 days or so until the official first day of spring, however, here (near Seattle) it's like 60 and sunny most days...the flowers are blooming and trees are budding.

More amped today as we found out we can stay in San Diego, at anchor, for a little longer than we anticipated...that was really good news and took some pressure off as we were wondering where we were going to stay until the hurricane season ended in Mexico (late October-early November).

Now we're reallly putting our heads down and getting things started on the boat...or at least trying to. The issue is I have about 6 major projects that are all held up for one reason or another. Example: I can't connect the mast light until the weather is good enough to climb the mast and insert the wires down inside...big job...figure a whole day. Also have the same kind of issue with the wind generator and solar panels...all "outside" kind of stuff.

Today it's the autopilot. We have all the equipment we'll ever need and then some...but some things...like the autopilot are about 20 years old. I foudn a direct short in the system yesterday which necessitates changing out the computer...which means tearing the aft captains bunk apart to access the computer....nothing ever happens in the singular...everything is interconnected.

So today it's inside stuff as it looks and feels like rain outside...of course it won't rain...it'll just look like rain all day...until the day is wasted!

Onward for now...
