Stopped blowing!

30 March 2010 | Poulsbo
So, after 3 days of high winds and lots of rain we're getting a short break from rocking and rolling at the dock. Besides we know it returns tomorrow. For now...it's just plain cold.

Okay, we got off the info about the sail to Dave (hopefully we didn't screw that up and end up with and upside down sail or something!).

Big doin's on the dock today...my new laptop came in! It's a Dell 1 million or something like that. Supposed to be a 64 or something but it has more keys than that so I think it's probably like a 102 or something...just based on the niubmer of keys. So anyway, it's super slick, got Windows 7 and supposed to be faster than superman. As it is, I also own last years Inspiron 1720 (it's slightly woozy from the keyboard drinking too much coffee)...anywa...y they are comparible. The old one has a really good graphics card, and TV, and lots of other bells and whistles...but...the new one has a backlit keyboard, is dazzling in speed, and after you get the knack...Window's 7 seems to rock. I'll let you know in a couple of days how it all really shakes out. Weird, Sandy's machine just went toast too..now she gets my old Inspiron 1720 (yeah old like almost less than a year). Anyway we leave with basically two new computers...funny how that worked out.

Today finished up the wiring for the two VHF radios (still waiting for the Ground Plane cable for the HF---going on 4 weeks now). Also got the wiring in and panels mounted for the solar panels...which includes a charge controller. While digging around I discovered the "lost" other charge controller and the circuit breakers! This is a big deal as we order a second charge controller...well now we have charge controllers for both the wind generator and solar panels...now if only we had some sun...

Okay, so we're both pushing pretty hard to get out of here so April looks to be a driving month...we have to finish up the ever expanding TO-DO lists (plural) and hopefully get in some sailing.

Wish us luck...Ray out for now.

Retired July '09. This is our second sailboat together. Before, Sandy had a Morgan '38 which she sailed from Port Angeles around Puget Sound. Sandy has motored to Mexico in the 70's...and lived and worked on her own boat for 3 years in Alaska. [...]
Extra: We are happy to report we are actually doing exactly what we really really really really really want to do...(short of winning the lottery of couse :)...in any case...it's PURE JOY! HF Contact: KF7IDH
