Jillian's Last Day Aboard
21 April 2010
So, Jillian (our granddaughter), has been here for four days now...two of which she's had pretty good weather so she was able to fish. "Fishing" for her, is going off the dock with a stick and line...she catches little fish, eels, and small crabs. Actually she's a pretty good fisherman (fisher-person?), anyway, she's beyond passionate about fishing...she's truely obsessed and will go out in the worst of weather and sit for hourse on the dock sometimes even into the dark...trying to snag something.
Of course while she's been here, we've taken some time with her as we probably won't get to see her again for a couple of years. She got all of her favorite foods, plenty of sugar cereal, :)... BBQ ribs, hamburgers, and chips etc...although there is a slight possibility that we'll meet again before we leave...we're taking this as maybe her last visit until we get down into mexico. Her parents have stated she couldn't come down to see us in Mexico until she learns how to swim.
As for the boat...for the last few days...before the rain started...we've been working on the roller furlers. Both were problematic, in that, they were not really installed correctly and additionally we got different sails than they we're originally designed for...smaller anyway. The size difference created mucho problems of adjustment but with perserverance we succeeded in getting them right...guess we'll find out when we finally get out.
Wiring for the boat is all done, and just in time as we lose our car usage in a few days. On the boat we have two major projects to do before departure...one is to get the watermaker re-connected with new lines, valves, and hoses...and the second thing is to go up the main and drop a fishtape down inside, in an attempt to run the wiring down for the masthead light...big doings and will probably take most of the day.
Other than those two items...it's adios Poulsbo dock as we're be heading out out to be on the hook.
