Hard to complain
19 August 2009 | Ray here...
Yesterday was another day of intense pressure and unfortunately... intense heat...at least down on the boat.
Today we were supposed to leave...fingers crossed. Be aware that we might be out of email contact until I get the new Wi-Fi extender hooked up...hopefully on the way up to Poulsbo.
On the mechanical side...I finally got the anchor windlass working (electrical motor device that raises and lowers the anchor) and rebuilt the bow roller to take our new 60# Manson Supreme. Getting the bow roller in was a good job unfortunately, just not a good fit in the end. Seems as though the type of connector I used for the Manson won't fit through the new anchor slot...oh well...redesign later....at least the unit works and brings the anchor up...the anchor alone weighs 60 lbs and the chain is 3/8" G43 High Test so it's not light in itself so everything has to be built super tough.
Shannon (Sandy's oldest daughter) just left and we're really going to miss her. She at least go to stay for a short day with us...and dinner. Hope she didn't compromise her school work. Our other daughter, Willow and granddaughter, Jillian (7) came in just as Shannon was leaving. It was a pretty emotional moment for everyone....leaving is going to be hard and going to sea doesn't make it any easier...at least they'll get a taste of what cruising is all about and of course everyone is invited down to stay with us where ever we are.
So, Willow and Jillian are with us for the first week of our cruise. We're excited about them being here and I feel a little bad about them having to help get us out of here...there's a lot of things you have to cover to leave for a lifetime.
So today exhausted...actually beyond exhausted...we're looking forward to a long leisurely cruise up to Poulsbo...about 10 hours away. Are we ready? Probably not...but the word is "you never will be.....so just go!"
