20 August 2009 | Ray here...
Well here we are! After a 10 hour slog up from Olympia against the tide...we started into the bay in Poulsbo Wa. The temp was in the high eighties most of the run...the engine ran flawlessly although I have some questions about the cutlass bearing (it is a deal that kind of "holds" the prop shaft) will know more about that in P. A.
So with Willow and Jillian, Sandy, and myself we cruised along truely enjoying the relief from the stresses of preparation. There was the usual run of seals, diving birds, and squadrons of seagulls and salmon all buzzing around. It was hot-hot at times them strangely cool at others. We pulled into Poulsbo in the dark and I "aced" the landing thanks to radar and the navionics charts :) We were complemented about coming into the harbor in total darkness...when we woke up we could see why...all I can say is go check Google Earth and see what we had to do to get in here!
Anyway....the Kiss wind generator purred along with only a whisper even at 20 knots wind speed, and everything else worked just fine (which is way surprising for me!). Once docked in, we crashed of course, slept hard and woke up and it was off to the world famous Sluly's Bakery for Jillian and myself...this is where they make the best baked good about anywhere! Now sitting in an Internet cafe updating the blog with the crew waiting for me to get out of here so we can catch the time and sail off to Port Townsend.
Going to head out now...I'll try to update in P.T.
