Sailed to Mevigassey, but didn’t enter

Sunset on the Fowey River this evening
Another beautiful morning in Salcombe. We waited for the tide to soon turn East before we set off. Had all wind strengths up to 16 knots today. One hour with asymmetric hoisted, one hour of motoring, but mostly closed hauled with full main and genoa.
Wind picked up as we were approaching Mevigassey. Decided eventually not to enter as it was blowing a cross wind across the fore and aft mooring buoys. Harbour looked quite tiny and there was a risk of blowing down towards the rocks. We decided to retract to beautiful Fowey instead. Arrived just at sunset. The amazing liminal zone between day and night. It was such an intense orange sky. It looked unreal.
