Sailing with asymmetric in Start Bay
First opportunity this year to fly a down wind sail. It came on October 9th! Nina and I hoisted the asymmetric after passing Berry Head and heading up Start Bay. We had left Torquay at lunch time and were on the way to Salcombe. The first leg on our Devon/Cornwall weekend cruise.
The race around Start Point was surprisingly fierce. Boat speed through water virtually stopped while our SOG was still good. A very good Saturday sail with weather far better than forecasted. Had dinner onboard in Salcombe and enjoyed the best views in the whole town. You can't beat the view from a boat mid river seeing both shores!
