We are leaving San Francisco.
18 December 2006 | Clipper Cove, Yerba Buena Island
This morning, we are pulling up anchor at Clipper Cove, and heading south.
Our destination is Santa Barbara, California, approx. 40 hours away, provided we motor all the way. Since neither Steen or I particularly care for the sound of the engine, we may try to sail part way, if the wind allows.
Forecast calls for 5 - 10 knot winds from the NE, and swells of 8-10 ft. at 13 seconds, decreasing to 6-8 ft. this evening.
Santa Barbara is near Point Conception, which is the 'turning point' between cold and warm weather... somewhat. So, that is our destination for now, and upon reaching SB, we intend to stay there for Christmas.
Wishing you all a peaceful Merry Christmas.
