Still in the south

Hello,
We are still travelling throughout the South Island (New Zealand); making our way 'east around'. We're in Invercargill, just about on the bottom of the island, starting our trip north up the east coast.
The scenery we have seen so far has been as expected - amazing. One could see many of these landscapes in the U.S., as well, but you would have to drive for days in between each. Here, you only drive a few hours, sometimes minutes, from glacier to rainforest; beach to granite cliffs; pastoral scenery to high desert scrub. Often we are completely unprepared for the next majestic sight that lies just around the highway bend. How many times have we been left speechless, or left with only 'wow'... many times.
It's almost difficult to take in so much beauty in a few weeks time; you almost feel desensitized, but then that unexpected landscape will pop up before you and 'wow you' once again.
We spent a too brief week with Steen's brother and sister-in-law from Denmark, travelling the Western Coastal Region, seeing Fox Glacier and Punikaiki sp? (Pancake Rocks). It was a rare occasion that Steen and his big brother get to travel together, especially through such amazing landscapes. Steen is very thankful for that.
This session is about to time me out, so that's all for now. Take care and thanks for the comments. Hello to Fred and Lynda, still our neighbors, via post boxes... and hello to Ciel and Angela, wherever you are. We miss you. Since this is my posting, hello to my friends at GHC - Olympia. You guys are thought of often, and congrats LB!!! Best wishes.
Of course, we miss our families, and will telephone soon...promise.
til then,
Angela
