Lay Day

24 April 2015 | Fishing Bay, near Deltaville, DE
Ros/ Very cool, windy.
We remained in Fishing Bay today. We had an uneventful night at anchor with lots of wind. The wind continues to blow hard. We heard from Pegasus who took off today and reported that crossing the mouth Rappahannock was not pleasant 5-6' seas. They pulled into Reedville. We contemplated heading out after noon as the wind was supposed to ease but the weather buoys out on the Bay were still showing more wind than we would like. We are in no hurry now as we are 2 days or less from our destination. We decided we deserved a lay day, we have been pushing hard to get home. Ironically we were sitting out a two day weather delay here when I developed appendicitis in October. I have a great affection for the help and caring we found here.

We spoke on the VHF with the only other boat in the anchorage "Swiftwing" a ferro cement boat with a British couple aboard, heading to Florida. We were going to try to get together but it's not advisable in this wind. We were able to help them with some information about the mechanic at the marina and about cruisers health insurance, their company is ending their health cover. They are also in need of fuel filters, they must have stirred up the sludge in their tank in the bouncy conditions yesterday.

So we had a lazy day. We had a nice breakfast. Dave worked on a consulting case. I cleaned and tidied up a bit. We read, napped and chatted.

Now we are planning dinner we have left over pork loin to transform into a feast! We are wondering if its warm enough to have a drink in the cockpit and watch the sun set.

Tomorrow looks like s better day to move on.
