Sunday Races

23 March 2009
I joined another group yesterday at the same club that I sail from on Thursdays. It was a little different crewing on another boat. I wasn't crazy about the job, I worked as foredeck crew. I held my own considering that I was not familiar with the boat, the old gear and foredeck work in general. The ride was ok and it was quick. The winds really cooperated and made for a good sail.

Since the winds and the weather were so nice, I would have liked it have just cruised around instead of racing. I kind of wished I were on the smaller Ideals out of the Sailing Center in St Pete. I can tell that I am going to need to get back out on the Ideals so I can enjoy doing a few things I'd rather do like perfecting my skills at mainsail trimming and taking the helm. The hustle of racing gets old, especially for a boat and crew you are unfamiliar with. I think I will keep the racing to Thursday Nights only.

So my goal now is get back into the smaller keelboat sailing in St Pete and maybe crewing on other boats that are out for a cruise and not some intense racing.
