Saturday and Sunday we spent working with OJ on many projects, mostly canvas, but also some headliner rework, new snaps and canvas track repair for the boys. KDengeenering is the word for the week…or maybe ever as we inserted a new vinyl window pane in one of the aft screen doors…and what do you know …. It worked…and looks fabulous! Denise and I still managed to get in the water every day and go visit our friends. Saturday in Waterlemon proved to be an amazing snorkel which yielded among other things, two octopus, several eels, two turtles and …wait for it…two Sharks! One nurse shark and one reef shark. A very, VERY cool experience. Sunday OJ headed into YHG to begin charter prep and we headed over to Crown Bay Marina to tie up for a while and get our laundry, big shop and big boat cleaning done. We did the laundry Sunday afternoon and caught a little football on the laundromat TV’s, then, for a treat after dinner we grabbed a pint of Ice Cream from the store and indulged!

The only down side here is that we are spitting distance to the container ship docks, and once one comes in they work nonstop until they leave again…generally overnight. So shortly after we arrived yesterday we heard the pilot call the arrival of the container ship Ocean…and by noon she was banging and clanging while unloading and loading her containers. This went on all night, until she departed this morning around 8am…so needless to say sleep was a little hard to come by. We ever tried shutting all the ports and hatches, and while it helped…it sure didn’t turn the noise off. Ahhh, the glamorous life of cruising.

Today is cleaning day! The boat gets her very big scrub and wash down this morning and in between I start polishing the stainless. After we scrub every last inch of her and boy oh boy is she bright now!, Jim starts a really messy project. Vacuuming and sanding the rust off the rudder posts in preparation for painting them. After the ugly cleaning job, then you have to prime it with a rust inhibitor, which smells pretty foul. That done, finally…its time to wait overnight for it to dry and then paint…but that’ll be a job for a different day!
